A Workshop on best practices in Wind Energy has been held at the Aswan Campus of the AASTMT.
Professor Mohamed Orabi, vice dean of College of Engineering in Aswan University, and Professor Abdel Hady Salam, professor in Energy in Aswan University explained their point of view and recommendations to increase the generation of wind energy in Egypt and how to integrate it with solar energy. Dr. Hammam Solimam (Aaslborg University) talked about the issue of wind industry R&D, focusing on storing energy: The wind industry in terms of electricity generation is now very mature, therefore, the R&D sector has the privilege to innovate. Prof. Fernando Tadeo (University of Valladolid) presented the WESET project, focusing on how the Erasmus+ funding is making possible to develop learning modules on Wind Energy adapted to the needs of South-Mediterranean countries, and to train academic staff. Examples of the modules, and of the activities developed in the project were presented. The audience was invited to participate in the dissemination activities that are being organized in Egypt and Tunisia.
A round table was held leaded by Prof. Yasser Dessouky (AASTMT).
Questions from students in the audience focused on how these new programmes will enable them to develop the wind energy manufacturing in Egypt.
